libatasmart-dev software package provides ATA S.M.A.R.T. reading and parsing library - development files, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libatasmart-dev
libatasmart-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libatasmart-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libatasmart-dev *
You will get with libatasmart-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
